OK, lets try it this way…

We have been meeting “every other” Sunday at Motor Pkwy Quick Chek in Brentwood/Hauppauge. However as anticipated nobody knows whn “every other Sunday” is. Which Sunday is the “other one”? It is confusing. The idea was to make it easier for me and our Suffolk County Members to meet us. Making it easier for me has never been a concern. I am the President. My concern is for the Club before my own comfort. When I moved out to Suffolk meeting up in Plainview at Town Bagel became more of a chore. Well, I dont care anymore. Here is what we are going to try to do…

Starting this Sunday, the 6th of July we will meet EVERY SUNDAY MORNING AT TOWN BAGEL IN PLAINVIEW AT 9AM. It is easier to rember and we have met at various but always the same place for over 25 years. It will continue to be known as “The Sunday Swarm”.

But what about the people in Suffolk? Well last night at the return of Pizza Night, a light bulb went off in my head of too many marbles…

Starting Wednesday July 9th we will meet EVERY WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT MOTOR PKWY QUICK CHEK IN BRENTWOOD/HAUPPAUGE AT 7PM. Night rides are shorter and we pick a destination to get something to eat, not just Pizza. There are just so many places we want to go to, that limiting it to Pizza might get boring. So the Wednesday “Meet & Eat” will be known as “The Suffolk Swarm”.

In case you did not know, a “Swarm” is group of Hornets and that is our name, The Hornets Long Island Scooter Club. We are also known as “The Long Island Vespa Club” For the even more dense, “Vespa” means “Hornet” or “Wasp” in Italian. The Vespa kicked off the modern scooter age way back in 1947. We welcome all brands of Scooters and Motorcycles too, ya know.

I want to take this oppurtunity to thank everyone in the club for their support. It has been an interesting 25 years. We have had some noteable times and great rides. We are a local club and our rides feature locations on Long Island. That is what we have been about for over 25 years. We are an official chapter of The Vespa Club Of America and it absolutely free to join us.

All you have to do is SHOW UP. SHOWING UP ON YOUR SCOOTER, READY TO RIDE. Is’nt that why you bought the darn thing in the first place? We are about riding Scooters, not looking at them in the Garage. We are a real Scooter club not just a group with a website and a Facebook page. “We ride Scooters Not Computers” is our battle cry, so meet us on SUNDAYs at Town Bagel in Plainview at 9am and on Wednesdays at Motor Pkwy Quick Chek at 7pM and, Scoot On… Marbles Mahoney Founder & President
