THE RIDE TO THE END 2023

It has been a few years since we have done our signature ride. Covid put an end to all of our long distance rides. We did not want to risk our members lives more than usual. This year the ride is back and so are we. Not that we ever left, but we took it easy and used the time to reorganize a little for the better. After 24 years, it was time to clean out the cobwebs.

The ride to Montauk Point (known as “THE END”) is as far as you can go on Long Island. Many say we do not do a lot of Long distance riding, which is true. As a Long Island based club, our rides are based on… Long Island. For some that is difficult to figure out. Oh well. Our goal is to visit all the places you do not normally visit on this Island of Long and to make freinds along the way. This is what we are about and always will be.

Okay, lets talk about the ride. First it is not short. It is an all day ride with many long stretches. Our stops will be minimal for Gas and circumstances. You can pick up snacks and drinks at these Gas stops, if you have not already brought them. Bring whatever you need to be out all day.

IMPORTANT!
There are not Gas stations where you want them.
When we stop for Gas, please top off. Please do not say “I do not need Gas” – You do. Jusy because you have enuf Gas for your comfort does not mean you have enuf gas for the next leg of the journey. Top off, dont be stubborn. If you run our of Gas, it is on you.

Second. We do not take a direct route. If you know anything about us, this is the norm. As we get out east there are not many choices of roads. If we hit traffic on one, we deal with it. If you do not have patience, see a therapist. This is not a fast ride. There are not many detours. We are also not making sight seeing stops. There is plenty to see on our route. We can apriciate that LI has many sights to see, but we have a long way to go and a short time to get there. We will have lunch in Montauk. Oh yes, bring a jacket.

Third. Keep up. A constant issue. Keep in formation, keep close together. The “Average” speed is 45 mph but we do go faster and we do go slower. Hence the “average” speed. A 150 cc Scooter is recomended. Anything smaller will be asked to go home. That being said, a 150cc Scooter will be useless unless you know how to ride it. Get used to full throttle starts and do not fall behind and leave gaps. Riders that can not keep up will also be asked to speed up or go home. The ride is being led by me on a 150cc Scooter so nobody has the excuse that their Scooter is not fast enough. If you can not keep up on a 150, it is you that are not fast enough.

Forth and last. Have fun. We are in this together, we are as a team. We are going as a “We”. Anyone that has a problem, honk your horn and we will all pull over to help. Please have a roadside assistence plan in place. We do not have a towing service. Bring money! Montauk is not cheap, nether is the Gas out east. It can be over $6 a Gallon!

You will be overwhelmed by the sights and sounds of the day. Memories for a lifetime will be made. You will see all of Long Island in a day and the freinds you make will also last a lifetime!
